i had a few positive visits to PT, except for the people i met there. :( I especially enjoyed the old buildings downtown.

I've heard this from other people too about not liking the people in PT. I've met incredible kind and awful people in PT. The people at the food coop and many of the businesses are kind and helpful.

The last time I visited was the winter of 2022 and I thought that the city needs more racial diversity besides Black Lives Matter signs on posted on lawns.

PT definitely lacked diversity. sigh. I had liked the coop there. I just think the area attracts a lot of pretentiousness.

You're not wrong on that. The summer months are the worst for pretentious people because they're the ones who have their second homes in PT. They're not really community members because they come and go. It's the same for some parts of Whidbey.

What's also maddening is the cost of housing in PT and the not in my backyard attitude when it comes to building affordable housing. Low-income people are mentioned when it comes to the progressive agenda but actually bringing low income people to a community, well, that's a whole other story. It's the same in parts of Vermont.

It's the same with the irony of the Black Lives Matter signs. They're sprinkled throughout but where are the black people in PT?

certain demographics are low here as well. community posturing. i dislike that that is how it is in so many places. so true re: seasonal living. and boating is not really for those of low income. especially wooden boats. they are really beautiful tho.....

I agree. I love the wooden boats. I volunteered at the Wooden Boat Festival in 2019. I really enjoyed it. The sailors and boat makers were friendly and had good stories to share.

I'll need to do a photo narrative on the boating community in PT. I almost said PA.

i have a vibrant childhood memory of a huge very beautiful wooden sail boat of sorts docked at the chicago yaght club. on it lived a very large black fur ball of a dog named boo. i had sailing lessons as a kid. summers age 9 and 10. i even crewed for races. alarming when one thinks about it. i was not a strong swimmer. good memories. i hear that my father volunteered to sand boat hulls while retired in anacortes.
