Edison was once Skagit's well-kept secret and then the artists moved there to get out of La Conner because that town became a tourists trap and overpriced. Sadly, Edison became trendy and expensive. But I still like Edison and the artists.
Not to dis La Conner because I like visiting La Conner and the boardwalk on the canal is beautiful. And then there is the Rainbow Bridge which is a real bridge and not the one spirits cross over.
i found la conner a bit too homogenized. but there is a breakfast place and a quilt museum that i really love. edison is still a gritty to me, and true - very art-artist centric which i value because you can get a huge dose of art and not have to walk too far.
I prefer Edison to La Conner. La Conner does have the NW Art Museum and the Quilt Museum. It used to have an independent bookstore that disappeared I believe in 2018.
One of my novels is set in La Conner, Bellingham, and Quebec. The only story I have set in Edison is short fiction. It's one of my favorite short stories that unfortunately didn't excite editors of literary journals and magazines. It's an older style of writing.
i love bow-edison. pocket sized is a good description.
