Photo Narrative of a Peaceful Day

Although my birthday is nine days away, my friend and I celebrated my birthday and the Solstice on the same day. We headed to Rosario Beach which is part of a state park on Fidalgo Island in Washington State.

People and their dogs gathered on the beach and in the forested area. I felt like I was living on another planet or a different realm because of the peace in the air. And the sun dazzled on the water and on the plants.

We collected beach rocks. And a woman showed up to mention that there was a sealion on the beach, just up ahead where the log pointed to the sky. So, similar the closing scene of Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, a small crowd gathered on the beach to see the creature.

And while there wasn’t a paparazzi, people did whip out their mobile phones to take photos. No dogs barked and it was surreal.

My friend and I found a picnic table to perform our own Solstice Ceremony. We noticed that others were gathering around food as in picnics. We wished that we had brought food and drinking water.

I played my Native American-style flute in the key of G and my Koshi Chimes while birds gathered around us. I saw my share of bird omens, mainly crows and robins and I believe a hawk.

My friend brought her card decks just like old times. The old times when people gathered face-to-face around a dinner table and shared wisdom. She cast Runes and read the symbols on the cards.

I’m posting these photos and words to uplift you. To remind you that other realms and experiences are always in the potential. This is the complete opposite of doom scrolling and glueing one’s eyes to the news or reading dark opinion pieces, also containing doom.
