The first time I saw a stellar jay was when I lived on the west side of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. At first I saw a flash of blue and I thought my mind played tricks on me. And then I started hearing screeching.
When I told my sister that I saw stellar jays (an entire family of them) in Seattle, she also thought my mind played tricks on me. Then we started seeing the jays everywhere. When I moved to Bellingham, I noticed jays even more.
I’m too lazy to identify this duck. But I’m interested about his hair and feather designer. I found him at Scudder Pond in Bellingham, WA.
I photographed this golden-eye duck at Derby Pond. And it took patience since I only had a Nikon CoolPix with a slow shudder. And as you might not know, these are diving ducks.
Canadian geese at Birch Bay, not too far from the US-Canadian border. Canadians have told me that the geese don’t actually belong to their country. We weren’t sure how they adopted the name Canada Goose.
This photo is blurry and normally I wouldn’t post a blurry photo but check out this image of a crow alarm calling because of a hawk in the tree. The hawk is unperturbed by the crow.
There’s nothing than sitting near a pond and watching mallard ducks preen.
Since it’s rare to find a snowy egret in a city setting, I wished that I had a better camera on the day this bird showed up in Old Fairhaven.
